Cook Indian home food with confidence, by getting the essential dishes right first
If you want to move beyond generic curry and start cooking traditional Indian home food, this book was made specifically for you.
It takes you through the essential Indian dishes and meal components that often get overlooked in the west. Including the step-by-step guidance that helps you move beyond just following isolated recipes.
That's the real problem for most people. Indian cuisine is vast, but across that variety there are a handful of dish types that appear again and again in everyday meals, things like dals, sabzis, and the staples and condiments that sit alongside them. The word “curry” tells you very little about the dishes that actually show up in Indian home cooking, or what to cook alongside them.
This book is designed to show you the dish types that come up again and again, so you can cook them properly now and approach new variations with much more confidence later.
Inside the book
- 5 essential parts of an Indian home meal, broken down step by step: dal, dry sabzi, wet sabzi, rice, and roti
- 11 detailed recipes and technique breakdowns showing you how those core dishes are actually built, not just what ingredients go into them
- 25 extra regional recipes across 5 Indian states, organised by core dish type, so you can practise the same methods in different regional styles and see how the patterns carry across the cuisine
- Clear visuals and repeatable techniques so unfamiliar Indian dishes stop feeling random and start making much more sense
Why I made this
Early on in my career as a professional chef, I knew I wanted to teach cooking and build a business around my passion for it. That is a big part of why I started sharing food online. I have always loved cooking different cuisines from around the world, but over the years Indian home cooking became the cuisine I studied most deeply, especially because I worked alongside and learned from many Indian colleagues and friends during my time in a hotel kitchen.
I am not claiming ownership over Indian cuisine, and I am not trying to be a spokesperson for it. My role remains that of a serious student and teacher who has worked hard to understand the patterns, principles, and cooking logic well enough to help beginners cook it properly.
My aim is not just to curate recipes that already exist, but to contribute something useful to the way beginners learn the cuisine as a whole: a clearer, more manageable path into Indian home cooking that helps people understand what they are doing, cook with more confidence, and get results that still feel authentic.
